Cerebral Aneurysm Clipping
>> Friday, January 15, 1988
Aneurysm Clipping is a surgical procedure that requires creating an opening in the skull through which the surgeon's instruments can enter. A surgeon then gently dissects through the brain to get to the aneurysm and places a clip across the aneurysm where it arises from the blood vessel.
Aneurysm Clipping prevents blood flow from entering the aneurysm. If there is a clot in the aneurysm, the clip also prevents the clot from entering the artery and possibly causing a stroke.
