Merlin MD, founded in Singapore in July 2002, is developing an endovascular graft for excluding intracranial aneurysms from circulation. First-in-man clinical deployment was performed successfully in October 2006.

Merlin's X-Calibur Aneurysm Occlusion Device (AOD) is an endovascular device designed to seal the necks of intracranial aneurysms and facilitate vessel healing, while maintaining blood flow to side branches crossed by the AOD.

The device provides a novel approach to the endovascular treatment of intracranial aneurysms that is based on the concept of flow-diversion, which is effected by a semi-permeable membrane on a stent-based delivery platform. Product is currently in clinical trials in Europe.
