MicroVention, founded in 1997 in Tustin California, develops a range of minimally invasive catheter-based products to treat cerebral aneurysms and ischemic stroke.
MicroVention’s main products are MicroPlex Coil System and the HydroCoil Embolic System, its next-generation endovascular coil system which incorporates proprietary hydrogel technology.
MicroVention is also developing an aneurysm stent in-house as well as seeking possible acquisition of such device for another company.
In March 2006 Microvention was acquired by Terumo corporation. Microvention 2009 sale of its neuroendovascular product line was estimated at US$20 million. Combined MicroVention / Terumo neuroendovascular sales are estimated at US$40 million.
